Nice tool, worked great

The product worked as expected. I've used it on the valves on my Dodge Durango with no problems. I would order this product again if needed.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Minor repairability

Excellent valve spring compressor.

I was repairing valves in a Honda Sohc 2.2 head and this tool made my job a lot easier. Great tool for the money and I received it the next day.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • New competitors appeared

Removal and installation of valves in engines

The clamp flew to the side under tension and the swivel unit on the clamp screw fell off. It took a hold when I started compressing the valve spring to keep the clip straight. Was able to get the job done after a lot of flickering and some frustration. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the next engine block.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • not reliable

This tool will not work with SBC cylinder heads.

This tool will likely fit a motorcycle head or any other smaller engine but is not suitable for automotive applications with heavy duty springs. The picture shows this tool joke compared to a tool that actually works with SBC heads. I wouldn't even try to use this tool on small 4 cylinder car engines, let alone something with a stiff spring.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Expensive

You get what you pay for. Only recommended for laypeople

He did his job (AMC 304 V8). After a while the little grip pin got hard on my fingers so I welded a bushing to the end of this shaft so I could use a ratchet. The quality is ok. Not something I would recommend if you've built a lot of engines, but if you're just a hobbyist and don't need this tool often, it's better to save some money and get this cheap version.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Negative impression

Missing piece and small screw for travel tubes.

I never got a chance to use it because it didn't have a foot pressing on the valve and I didn't want to modify the screw and add a foot so I could use the damn thing. Although I liked the design or the detail gripping the spring. The bolt wobbles in the barrel. As many here say, it might work for some applications, but it's clearly cheap and with poor quality control.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • A few little things

Just easy work! for power tools

The idea here is correct, but if you have an older (eg 1949) flathead V-8 engine it will not fit. The lower fork, which can be adjusted to accommodate different sized valve spring retainers, just isn't strong enough to hold it without uncoiling outward after a few times. Even when the width adjustment screw is adjusted, it actually starts to flex the base legs attached to the lower fork. However, it did teach me what my job really required, and with an old-fashioned spring compressor and its…

Nice tool but not fit for what I bought it for.

I have seen many other reviews on here claiming this tool is poorly built and not suitable for more than one engine to fit in the palm of your hand. I do not agree. It was assembled fairly well and worked on my other projects, but its downside is the inability to crimp the valves through any significant sidewall. I've used it on a Toyota 1zz engine, the valve springs are slightly recessed in the head and I'm estimating the height above the valve spring retainer to be 1/2 inch. The armature…
