Review on AIZICO Trickle Automatic Maintainer Motorcycle by Brent Peterson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Versatile and Functional

I have a 'Battery Tender' car battery charger but little is known about its function other than the flashing light. The AIZICO charger has multiple modes - in a typical "slow charge mode" it starts at around 12V and low current and then ramps it up to around 14.4V and more to start charging. The display shows voltage and current as well as a bar graph showing the state of charge. When the battery is almost full, the current will decrease and then switch to trickle charging when fully charged (shown as FUL on the display). There are slow and fast modes for different types of lead-acid batteries (this is not only called for sealed batteries), normal and cold modes for AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries, one for lithium-ion and one for "repair". -Mode for lead-acid batteries to try to eliminate sulphation. The charger remembers the last mode you used, so you don't have to re-select it every time. It comes with battery clips as well as a cable that can be permanently attached to the battery studs. It has a cover on the end of the plug to prevent weather damage. The charger can detect bad batteries and incorrect connections. The instructions for use are pretty good, although they seem to be repetitive in a few places. I first tried this on an 8Ah SLA battery (the kind used in backup power supplies). It wasn't until a little later that I noticed that it was designed for batteries with a minimum nominal capacity of 14Ah, but for that it seemed to work fine. I then connected it to my wife's car battery and was pleased to see the charge current ramp up and then ramp down during charging.

Pros
  • Continuous Car Battery Charger
Cons
  • No Instructions
