Disappointingly it took over an hour to set up but it ended up working better than the original remotes

love-hate relationship with this remote. The hateful part came from the installation, which took me over an hour. Part of the love is that it works like a charm and even allows you to control settings that weren't on the original Mitsubishi remote. We have a tall and old Mitsubishi Mr. Slim. The device still works perfectly, but the plastic cover of the remote control is falling apart and no longer works. We don't have a wall panel, so we need a remote control to control the device. The instructions that came with the remote control sound like they were translated, so transcribing them is confusing. The instructions mention using the keyboard to enter codes, but there's no numeric keypad anywhere. I somehow figured out that buttons can match numbers (just like phone numbers match letters), but that only worked in some cases. My second try was an automatic code finder that allows the remote to jump from a code. to the next until you find the right one. The instructions say there will be a beep when the correct one is found. . . no beep but eventually the air conditioner turned on like magic. This continued into the fan settings and all the remote could do was increase or decrease the fan speed. The unit only worked as a fan and did not yet have air conditioning. The fact that he turned on the device gave me hope. I made myself comfortable and manually went through one by one starting with 0001 until I found the magic code 0523 that works. Yes . . Hour for entering codes 001,002,003 etc. . . to 0523. Damn tiring and boring, but I'm getting stubborn and determined. . .:) * ! *! *! now the big reward for all the time and frustration. . . With this remote I can now choose from 4 fan speeds (my old remote that came with my unit only had high or low speed). It also has an automatic setting that is accurate, raising, lowering and stopping the fan to maintain the selected temperature. I am very happy about this find. I spent almost 90 minutes cursing on this thing, but in the end we're cool, happy, and oh so thankful to be able to control our air conditioning during these hot and muggy summer months. Update December 2018 *** Bought a second one for a smaller Mitsubishi Slim unit in the bedroom. The first thing I did was use the same code 0523 that worked on our main Slim unit. It did not work. I looked at the list of codes that came with this remote and the first group of codes they listed for Mitsubishi, 0001-0045.0003 worked! As with my previous review, this new remote not only works, but allows you to control more functions than the original. I was ready to go through the same lengthy process I did before getting those extra controls. This time I got additional features after trying the code a few times. Win.
