True to size but not big enough for a meal tray. This is normal with snacks or small meals. However, the one I received takes up a lot of space on the tray, which looks like it's worn down from rubbing in the same place. Perhaps it was returned and resold as new, perhaps an oddly shaped stain was missed by the paintwork. This tray has rough spots on the handles and various random spots where it appears the varnish has been applied unevenly, or where the varnish has not been used where sanding may have roughened up these areas. Not recommended for people with very sensitive or thin skin. There is a small gap in one corner where it doesn't line up. It had a fairly intense perfume smell that permeated the box. I was worried about the coffee which came in the same box as the coffee bag which carried the scent of perfume for about a day. The coffee in the bag smelled ok when opened, but I didn't make any coffee to see if it tasted good.
