It just didn't work. I installed my new 75g pan with a 20g pan and made sure the temperature was stable at 77.5 degrees. All water parameters were perfect for adding this product. I double checked both Salinity 1.21, Alk 9.8, PH 8.2, Cal, 400, Mg 1300. Both the rock and the substrate were inert and contained no organic matter. I followed the directions on the bottle and added the entire bottle to the main display and even rinsed it with tank water to make sure everything got there. I then added the right amount of drops from Dr. Tims added ammonium chloride and let the tank do its job. 24 hours later I started checking my ammonia and nitrite levels. Ammonia was 3.0 and nitrite and nitrate were zero. Over the next few days, the ammonia level continued to rise to 5.0, but nitrite and nitrate were still at zero. On the 5th day, the chemical composition of the water remained the same. Absolutely no change in ammonia levels. Something was obviously wrong so I checked the expiration date on the bottle and it was over two years from the expiration date. In the end I went to my LFS, got a bottle from a competitor and filled the tank. I checked the numbers 24 hours after the ammonia dose and the ammonia level dropped by half to 2.0-3.0. I have now also seen nitrites at 2.0. After 72 hours of dosing at competitors, ammonia is now at zero, nitrite at 4.0 and nitrate at 20. So after five days with Dr. Tim got absolutely no results other than higher ammonia levels. Within 24 hours of adding a competitor product I was already seeing results. So keep in mind that many are excited about One and Only, but for me it's not worth the money. I ended up having to go back to a product I've used in the past to power my SW tanks to get any results.
