I think the design is for better use of plastic to help the environment as most plastic bags waste space without integrated ties. Tie a bag at the top. The plastic top makes it easy to tie a garbage bag without wasting a lot of space. Although many people don't care about efficiency or the environment. So if you're not one of them and prefer convenience, garbage bags with built-in drawstrings are probably your best option. Many municipalities in some areas of my state currently require clear or white garbage bags. since scavengers can avoid unknown dangers with black bags (sharp objects in pockets, etc.). Durability seems good but not super strong. I thought the bag was actually stiffer than most 13-gallon garbage bags I typically deal with. But maybe it's because I prefer cheap bags.
