let it slide on drawers

I'm renovating my kitchen. I don't need fancy furniture around me for cooking, but the old condition, which the previous owner has worsened by painting the walls white (!) paint, worried me a lot. So I scrub it down to bare wood and swap out all the drawers. The first drawer is a wide drawer for everyday cutlery, which I put in instead of two smaller ones. They slid on those horrible rollers and tin rails, which has to be the worst system mankind has ever devised for moving boxes. I'm happy to report that they work. I'm still not completely blown away by the soft close thing, but I have to admit it's cool. The only thing I don't like is the resistance when opening. Another thing to keep in mind is that they are short. It's ideal for wider drawers, but for kitchen counters it's a huge waste of space, nearly 25 inches deep. Good quality. Would have liked more adjustable holes. I've seen better. But with careful measurement, it works. A few words of encouragement: Making boxes isn't all that difficult. This can be done with a circular saw and pre-sawn wood. I highly recommend Ana White's tutorial on installing drawer slides on Youtube, which I think is the best route for anyone who doesn't have access to a carpentry shop. Hope this helps with the decision.
