I used this laser level to build an outdoor patio. Easier and more precise than rope and with multiple lasers, you can align objects in multiple planes, including horizontally and vertically. The bright green could even be seen outdoors. I used an inexpensive camera tripod as a base so I could easily move it around and adjust the height etc. It is self-leveling, but the level must be within ten degrees for this feature to work. It was a lot cheaper than similar branded products at the major hardware stores.
