I know all the conflicting reviews say it doesn't stick or float. Okay, so test it out on surfaces before you leave it alone! I mainly use it on my surfboard. The board itself won't stick firmly, but the foam pad I'm standing on fixes it. until my dog jumps on the board and starts kicking it all over the place, in which case I know I have to put it away from the can or have my hand ready to catch it. How do I know? I tested it to make sure I didn't lose my money at the bottom of the lake. It's not reliable, but it's certainly useful for those long days when I want to put a glass down to take a picture or play ball or whatever. Indoors on my counters and tables, I sometimes have a hard time picking it up! Just be smart about how you use it, or make a plan ahead of time when it unlocks. You're not going to be going down a rough road with a car strapped to the hood, and if you forget it on the tailgate and drive away, you deserve to lose it. If you're going full speed in a boat and making waves, keep a can or use coasters. It's pretty easy.
