I haven't had this item for a long time. I haven't had to wash it yet, so I can't comment on that. I use a longer rug right in front of the kitchen sink and a shorter one in front of the stove. I like subtle colors and they go well with my kitchen tiles. These rugs have no cushion and I'm fine with that. I wanted the mats to catch water or other spills from the sink or stove to keep the floor from getting slippery. The rug tends to slip so I have to buy non slip fabric to put under each of the rugs to keep them in place.
