Soft as a feather, does it really get clean?

Just received, the bristles (don't even call them that) are feather soft. I have no idea how they clean or remove plaque. I'm not even sure I want to use them. My 13 year old grabbed one and said I don't like hard brushes, I would use this one. I will update the review when I feel his teeth are clean enough.
