Amazing scanner if you take the time to learn about its features and options

This is an amazing scanner with lots of features. For those who are new to this scanner, it will take time to become familiar with this radio and the multitude of menus and options. It may seem frustrating at first, but I found it worth taking the time and patience to fully appreciate this scanner and its capabilities. For those who live in the country, far away or on the outskirts of large metropolitan areas. Be prepared to invest in a quality antenna replacement. I live 30 miles north of the subway in downtown Kansas City, and the scanner doesn't see anything other than a highway patrol channel when I'm on the ground floor of the house. The second floor captures all available channels in the main database used in my area. Battery life is not very good, 6-8 hours maximum. I found that the rechargeable AA batteries that came with the unit are rated at 2300mA. Be sure to use 2300 MA. I bought a kit that included a docking station and 8 AA batteries so I always have a spare kit with no downtime.
