Depending on which lazy dealer you go to, you may or may not program the key. At first I tried to find an auto mechanic but no one near me could do it. I went to the dealer and was told it would cost $75 to program and $75 to make a key. They also said they couldn't guarantee the programming would work because I didn't purchase it from their parts department for $218. I waited about two hours and they just cut out the key. The key starts my 4 runner and can open the doors manually but none of the buttons on the key work. I'm not crazy about it, but it's just a spare key, so it will do. If you really need a fully functional key, either find someone who knows how to use it, or just buy a very overpriced key from the dealer. I gave 4 stars because it's much cheaper but didn't completely solve my problem.
