Review on Dorman Cabin Air Filter Retrofit Kit 259-201 for Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC Models by Dmitriy Kingsley

I have a 2013 Tahoe that suffers from a horrible unpleasant air conditioning smell when it is first turned on. Countless times the seller contacted the dealer about a "workmanship price that didn't last long. I've now started using Kilma-Cleaner and accidentally came across this filter upgrade kit. The instructions provided were clear and easy to follow, especially for someone mechanically inclined. It should also be an easy task for those who don't. After the installation was completed, the air flow from the vents hardly decreased; a trade-off I'm willing to make if it helps with stubborn old issues while also filtering the air. I should also point out that I've taken my car to the dealership for a "prep/sanitized" every time clearly did nothing. Once I removed the bottom of the HVAC box as instructed, but the core of the evaporator was completely disgusting with hard black mold. Use a pump sprayer with a 100% bleach solution and drench the evaporator with about 2 gallons I rinsed the atomizer and filled it up with clean distilled water. I inflated the atomizer with as much pressure as possible and practically blew all the crap out of the atomizer core. After that I use a water hose and jet nozzle to finish. The end result is a perfectly clean atomizer core. Installing the filter took a few minutes and everything was reassembled soon after. As already mentioned, the airflow has been slightly reduced. When setting the maximum fan speed with the filter enabled, it drops slightly as if the fan speed were a click back. About 10% less. The upside of this is that exiting the vents is noticeably cooler. Overall I hope this fixes the problem of the aircon smelling like the angel of death after a night of shut down. The time will show. I will most likely change the filter at least every six months. Another advantage of the additional filter is that the air in the cabin is cleaned. I have two children who are both severely allergic to pollen and other seasonal allergens. I'm sure this will help.
