Review on Eagle Creek Cable TSA Lock: Secure Your Luggage with Ease by Derek Bryant

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great no-fuss luggage lock at a reasonable price.

Product dimensions: Cable from ball to ball approximately 3 7/8 inches, the cable itself is almost 3 inches long. The locker is 1 3/8 inches high and just under 1 1/4 inches wide. The thickness of the locker is half an inch where the keyhole is located and just over half an inch where the combination reset is located. I like the length of the cable, not too long and not too short. It slides easily through the zip holes in the main compartment, and if you have locking holes on other carry-on zips, like my Samsonite Spinner, you can also thread the cable through nearby zips. I also used it to lock the laptop compartment in my hand luggage (see photo). Please note that the thickness of the metal ball at the end of the tether will not go through regular backpack zippers at their base where the zipper connects to the flap unless they have an accessible locking hole. For most people who are not thieves by trade, this is a major deterrent for most people. For those experienced in stealing things, a lock is not something they will focus on. If you don't have anything valuable in your suitcase but just want to make sure your unnecessary items aren't easily accessible to anyone at the airport or wherever you leave them, this is a good basic TSA approved lock. I chose this castle. because there are keys. If I need something really fast without messing around with the combo, I can just hit the key and get in and out of it as fast as I can. The combined part is hard to see if you don't have good lighting, or it may be too small if your eyes can't see small numbers well. It looks like a tiny, inexpensive castle, but comes across as more intimidating and formal for honest, curious people looking to explore. This lock protects against such prying eyes.

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
