Review on Wireless Flash Speedlite with Radio Slave for Canon - YONGNUO YN685 - GN60 2.4G System with ETTL and HSS Capabilities by Kristine Tay ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, more pros than cons.

This flash was the fourth flash I have ever used. Canon 580 changed to 600, and I also have a Sigma 530 Super and this one. I took it along with the YN-622C-TX synchronizer in order to fully control the flash from the camera and not attach an additional receiver to it. Because of this, batteries are not needed for the synchronizer, and the flash freely stands on the mount to the mini softboxes (when using the 622 synchronizer, the flash head had to be turned 180 degrees) In the summer I tried to use it as the main one on the street to highlight the shadows in sunny weather. Unlike the trouble-free Canon 600EX-RT, this one shows an overheating icon after an hour of use and turns off. Now she mainly works with a back flash along with a sigma at minimum power. But even in this mode, the batteries are consumed very quickly. Canon 600EX runs at 1/8 power, Sigma and YN685 at 1/64, on the same batteries. The flashes are constantly on and do not fall asleep. After 4 hours, the flash turned off and asked for new batteries, Sigma and Canon quietly worked for another 2 hours until the end of shooting. In general, the flash is good, convenient, worth the money. But not for long shots.

Pros
  • Adequate price for its level. Compatible with YongNuo 622 synchronizers
Cons
  • Very voracious. Consumes batteries even in standby mode. It basks in the sun and stops working.
