I tested these plates with small (2x4, 2x8, etc.) LEGO pieces before attaching them to my surface and they worked fine. Glue worked well (I attached them to a Lifetime plastic folding table) but soon after, my kids and I were trying to attach larger pieces like the bases that came with some of their various LEGO sets, and the bigger they were, the better more less likely that they will be fixed. 8x8 would have hooked, but I had to press hard, and then it was difficult to remove even with the help of a tool. The 16x16 sheet doesn't even remain fully occupied; When you press one corner, the other pops out. If you hold a 32x32 LEGO marker sheet next to it, you can see that the LEGO marker pins are slightly further apart along the length of the sheet, and so the difference in spacing gets bigger the more pins you try to cover. In a nutshell; If you plan on using them with small pieces, they will likely work for you. If you want to use larger pieces (more than 8x8), choose branded pieces.
