Fun math game for all ages!

I bought this game as a gift for a friend who loved it. We played it several times, and it great for practicing mental math skills. There is a little bit of strategy and a bit of luck. I bought a second copy of this to play with my 5th grade students. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because my Zeus statue came squished and won't stand up. It doesn't really affect the playability of the game, but is a bit disappointing. Luckily the one in my friend's gift was fine.We enjoyed the artwork on…

Pros
  • Fun fast simple math game.
Cons
  • Confusing instructions

My friend recommended it. This game is perfect for that

I bought this game for my 1st grader to help him practice adding up to 10. My friend recommended it. This game is perfect for that! Adding up to 10's to steal Zeus, and then knowing when you reach 100 in order to gain a point. While I don't think it's his favorite game, he willing plays it and I'm sure will do the trick for sneaking math into our day.

Pros
  • Offers a fun and engaging way to learn through play
Cons
  • Too heavily reliant on guessing

Bought for my 7 and 10 year old, but my 13 year old loved it too. We are competitive so the constant stealing of Zues almost every turn was almost comical as he quickly changed hands. The game is simple: use number (and different special god cards) to get to 100. Whoever is holding Zues at 100 wins the round and spells a letter from ZEUS (win four rounds- wins the game). Some rounds were longer than others depending on if they were being evil and using god cards to drop the count down (I hate…

Pros
  • Compact size makes it perfect for travel, parties, or quick games on-the-go
Cons
  • Overpriced for what it offers

Add it up! Zeus is on the loose!

We purchased this game for my kids - aged 7 and 9 at the time, and they LOVE it. It's pretty fast paced and has the added benefit of the educational component of having to add/subtract the value of the cards played as you "climb Mount Olympus." As the kids have gotten older they start working on strategies to steal Zeus (which you can do any time the total of "Mount Olympus" reaches a multiple of 10), and still enjoy this game. It's a great addition to our family game nights, and one we…

Pros
  • 1 pounds
Cons
  • Takes up too much space on tabletop

Oh my gods. best in my review

Bought this for my 10 year-old nephew who still has trouble with basic math. This game teaches him to add and subtract quickly and teaches some basic strategy. It's actually a LOT of fun! And the instruction booklet comes with some interesting tidbits on the myths of the gods mentioned in the game.

Pros
  • Great game to add and subtract up to 100. Also bonus to learn some more about the gods. Fun game
Cons
  • Poor card quality

Zeus on the Loose is a Win in My Book!

Zeus on the Loose has been a wonderful addition to our game closet. We have a 2nd grade son that has had some trouble with his addition and subtraction and he fights me when it comes to working with him. He absolutely loves this fast paced game and it is helping him in ways no worksheet or video has been able to. The entire family enjoys playing and he begs us to play every night.

Pros
  • The game is perfect for adding some fun and lighthearted entertainment into your day
Cons
  • Game ends too quickly

Great game for adults

Great game for adults, kids, and/or a mixed group. Game play goes fast keeping kids interested and there is just enough strategy involved that adults won't get easily bored. Also a great travel game since it is compact and a complete series can be finished in around 20 minutes. (The game can also be shortened if necessary). Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Keeps players on their toes with unexpected twists and turns
Cons
  • Not suitable for players with poor vision

Fun for all the family

I bought this game to replace the copy I used to have when some of the cards were ruined by water being spilled on them, making them warped and unusable. It's a great game for kids because it helps them learn how to count in their heads quickly, while deciding on the best card to play, but it's also fun for grown ups and can get very competitive. I love the little Zeus figurine as well. It's adorable. All in all, I recommend this game. It plays quickly so you can play many rounds in a…

Pros
  • Can be played in short, 15-20 minute sessions, making it a great option for a quick break
Cons
  • Theme is too narrow

Fun card game that's also educational

I work for an after school program, and I bought this game so that kids who finished their homework early had something educational to play. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to try it out with them. I did, however, do a trial run with my nephews (ages: 13, 12, 10) who enjoyed the game immensely. It's a very fast paced game, which adds to the excitement. It's a really good tool for kids who need practice or want to hone their mental math addition skills. This game relies more on luck than…

Pros
  • The game encourages taking risks and thinking creatively
Cons
  • Not enough innovative elements

Fast paced and Playable for everyone !

Love that might oldest can work on fluency well my preschooler can put down random cards and they can add for him or tell him what the power is. He understands that if he matches a card he can steal Zeus. It's fast-paced enough to keep everyone's attention and the grabbing of Zeus makes it way more fun for them than just your typical card game. I did not expect them to love it this much but so happy they do!.

Pros
  • The game provides an opportunity to unplug from technology and spend quality time with loved ones
Cons
  • Too complicated for younger players

Fun and educational

I got this for my niece. She (7) and her 9 year old sister loved it, fun for the whole family! Plus, you can sneak in some educational play.

Pros
  • Children liked it!
Cons
  • Not challenging enough for experienced players

If you got Zeus, you won't lose!

My group of kids ranging 5-12 really enjoy this, even though sometimes there are tears. Well, there can only be one winner. Some slick folks will try to cheat to get their hands on Zeus and some need a bit of help with counting but overall, nice.

Pros
  • Provides an opportunity for players to flex their strategic muscles
Cons
  • Not enough diversity in card powers

Great gift for my opinion

We purchased this for our mythology-crazed 10 year old. She was able to play it with her younger siblings (7 and 8 year olds), and they seemed to really enjoy it. They don't play it daily, but it is a nice add to our game collection. It was a great gift option and I would recommend it for any kids that like mythology and games!

Pros
  • So easy to learn and teach. Easy to play and super addicting. It’s a math game so it’s sneaky to boot.
Cons
  • Boring artwork

Math game that everyone likes?!? Yes!

Our whole family loves this game. Myself and my 11 year-old son, my 23 yr old sister, my parents, we all love playing this. There is math involved and strategy as well but most of all it is fun. You also get a little intro into some Greek gods and goddesses. Each card is numbered and you have a hand of several cards. As you play a card, you need to add the value of your card to the pile. It is mostly addition but there is also some subtraction. Not too hard but you have to be able to keep track…

Pros
  • My grandchildren love playing this game. They are ages 6 and 8.
Cons
  • Not suitable for solo players

Fun way to help hone simple addition skills

I bought this game to help with simple math skills. We haven’t had a chance to play It very much yet, but it is fun and easy to learn.

Pros
  • Teaches players to strategize and think ahead
Cons
  • Redundant design

My kids love it! good for me

A fun game to help learn math facts! My kids love this game. The "special" cards add a fun twist as you steal Zeus back and forth on your way to the top of Mount Olympus by getting to 100.

Pros
  • A great way to unwind after a long day and bond with loved ones
Cons
  • Card balance is off

Learning game in disguise!

My 10 year-old loves this game! He asks to play it regularly, and doesn't mind that it is a learning game. The game comes with the deck of cards, and a Zeus character. It is played in rounds. The round ends when the cards add up to 100 or more, and whomever is in possession of Zeus, wins the round, gaining one of the four letters of Zeus' name (think the game HORSE in basketball). Once a player collects all 4 letters in Zeus' name, that player is the winner. It is fairly quick, depending on how

Pros
  • The gameplay is both challenging and satisfying
Cons
  • Too simplistic for long-lasting fun

Fun to Play, Easy to Learn

So much fun for our Mythology obsessed kid. It also helps build math fluency while understanding game strategies. It's great fun!

Pros
  • A well balanced and engaging game that's perfect for all ages
Cons
  • Setup costs too much

Gamewright didn't let me down! We already loved Sleeping Queens and Rat-a-Tat Cat, so I bought this one for my daughter's birthday. My 6 year old daughter tends to be about average (maybe slightly above but nothing unusual) for her age at math, and she can play this game without getting frustrated. In fact, she begs to play it all the time! I love it because it's fun for me too, but also requires adding numbers up to 100, which I have my daughter keep track of with a pen and paper. It also…

Pros
  • The game provides a fun and engaging way to practice math skills
Cons
  • Prevalence of last-turn wins

Fun and educational

This game is fun and educational. It works on addition facts and even some subtraction and strategy (when is a good time to play specific gods-as they each have their own power)! My 8 year old is very into Greek mythology at the moment and this has been a huge hit for us!

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • Too dependent on chance
