Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Enhanced Gaming Experience: LePet PS2 to HDMI Converter with 3.5mm Audio Output for HDTV and HDMI Monitors by Ryan Olsen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

An excellent solution for connecting the console to a modern TV!

I saw a lot of bad reviews about this product so I thought I'd share my experience. Firstly, when you use it on PS2 Slim, you don't need USB power cord. Second, the HDMI cable is stuck, so make sure you connect that part first before plugging it into your system. To get a good idea of compatibility I decided to try a decent number of games (Ape Escape 3, Capcom Classics Collection Vol.2, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Katamari Damacy, Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil, Pac-Man World Rally, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Rogue Galaxy, Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild , TimeSplitters 2, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, Twisted Metal Black and We Love Katamari) Two-thirds of these games ran perfectly with absolutely no issues, another third had some sort of graphical glitch that caused the screen to either go black on launch or flickered the game. It didn't happen every time, but after turning off my TV or just toggling the inputs, the games worked great. Once launched, they all transitioned seamlessly between title screens, gameplay, and cutscenes with no issues. When the game has a progressive scan option, it looks amazing! I didn't have any audio issues, which bothered me because the Wii to HDMI product distorts deep bass, but I haven't experienced anything like that here. I think the problem might be how my TV handles the HDMI resolution change. Klonoa 2 every time you load a new area, cutscene or title screen it goes blank and I had to change the input back and forth to get the image back. The good news is that once you've done this, you'll be able to play through this entire section of the game without any problems until you get to the next area you had to go to or a cutscene pops up. I'll have to try turning off resolution auto-detection on my TV and just letting it work at 480i, that might solve the problem. I will update here when this happens. I need to add longer gameplay because I see some people complaining about the screen going blank after playing for a certain amount of time. The longest I've used so far is about 20 minutes. I really think the problem these people are having is rooted in the same problem I had of the game itself giving a weird signal when switching between game screens, loading screens or title screens and their modern ones. The TV tries to be "too smartโ€ for its own benefit. Older video games didn't have to worry about this problem, they were meant to be hooked up to CRT TVs, which simply displayed the picture they were given. So I give this product 4 out of 5, it's not 100% perfect. but it does exactly what it says on the tin, with just one quirk. If you have problems other than these, you have a faulty unit and I suggest replacing it.
