The mounting bracket does not need to be bent properly to provide the correct depth. He seemed to have gone too far, and the transmission teeth rubbed against part of the magnet bars, making a grinding noise. I only went about 15 feet, but after removing that VSS I saw some flex in the magnet plate so I reverted to my old VSS; Luckily I had already ordered an o-ring before deciding to replace the entire block. ***Buyers be careful: make sure the curvature of your new mount matches that of your original. DO NOT DAMAGE YOUR ORIGINAL VSS as you can reinstall it.***
