The build quality is extremely pleasant. It's a thick, heavy metal body and nice rubberized strips on the bottom to keep it in place. I was only able to read and write about 500MB/s, which is the 5Gbps limit for USB 3.0 (625MB/s). s), but not the advertised USB 3.1 9Gb/s speeds. This uses a card rated at 1700 MB/s. I tested both USB-C directly into my MacBook Pro and USB 3.0 into the docking station. I've also tried an alternative Thunderbolt 3 cable in case the cables that come with it aren't USB 3.1 compatible. The speeds were the same regardless of the cable used. I will continue testing with other devices. Overall, this is the cheapest CFexpress reader I could find and it's definitely faster than reading a card with my Panasonic S1R connected to a computer.
