Bimetal corrosion occurs when two metals with different electrode potentials come into contact in the presence of an electrolyte, e.g. As water, come into contact with each other. It is characterized by accelerated or preferential corrosion occurring in one of the metals while the other remains galvanically protected. In this particular case: the thread of the bushing, the nut and the aluminum body of the water tank provoke this type of corrosion. It leaves a lot of dirt on the threads and in the tube of the nozzle, as well as floating debris near the bottom of the tank. I went back to using the original spigot, which is made from BPA-free synthetic materials. Too bad because I really like the presence of the water mirror.
