The first thing I liked was that it arrived a week before the expected date. Good start. It was packaged very well and while I knew what I would find in the box I was very pleasantly impressed with the lens' looks and weight. Since it wasn't heavy, it just seemed solid. By putting it in front of the camera, I found a new balance that I suspect was what the creators originally had in mind. Although I've had a medium zoom lens before, I really appreciated the whole wide-angle world at the 18mm setting. The zoom function is still a little tight, but it loosens up with use and prevents the lens from opening when I point it down. It's quiet when zooming and very solid and mechanically smooth. And then to use it - the image is much more detailed and sharper than what I had before which wasn't bad but the clarity and use of this lens is top notch. the drawer. I use image stabilization in the camera, not in the lens, so I won't comment on that. The autofocus is very fast, but I have to be careful not to hold the lens by the manual focus ring. After learning about it, I had a desire to photograph almost everything I see. I feel like a kid rediscovering the magic of photography! Yes, I love this lens and how it has impacted my ability and desire to find beauty in my world and take great photos. I was excited enough to re-read my camera's user manual to see what else I could do with it. As Flounder said in the movie Animal House, "This is awesome!" The photos above are unedited and were taken yesterday and demonstrate the excellent macro capabilities and versatility of this amazing lens.
