Review on πŸƒ Vivobarefoot Women's Ultra L-w: Lightweight Barefoot Athletic Shoes for Active Women by Maurice Stavros

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Two shoes for the price of one

I was looking for a pair of sneakers that are eco-friendly and cheap. Vivobarefoot claims to be a "green" company, but that's more of a label they self-impose without any real proof. Since other eco-friendly shoes are much more expensive, I gave them up. I found the Vivobarefoot Achilles sandal but am not interested in going barefoot so went for these for about $10 more. I think it's great that the shoes come with removable toe caps. The socks have a thin sole so they can be worn separately (it's like two pairs of shoes!). I wore them to work in the kitchen and felt good afterwards. However, these shoes are oddly shaped and fit. They're shaped like a clubfoot, which is handy for people like me, but if you have "normal" feet, you might not like them very much. Another thing is that the hole in the toe where the foot goes is quite narrow. I don't have the tiniest of ankles, so I can feel the sock digging into my ankle. It also makes it difficult to pull your foot out without tearing the entire sock. If you wear the shoes alone without a sock, you can insert the tongue (included), but the tongue does not bend well, so it is a bit prickly. Probably not that reliable, but you could get rid of the reeds. *** I've worn the socks a few times and they seem to have loosened up a bit and are more comfortable. Many reviews said the shoe was too small for them. with socks and perfect without. I'm not exactly sure what size I wear as I mostly wear sandals and other open toed shoes so I can get away with a size that is too small or too big. Last time I checked I was a size 8. Even the size chart says size 8 but they are usually too tight (I have a wide foot). Size 9 fits me, so I usually take it. I bought these shoes for 9/9.5 and they were too long for me. About half an inch longer. The sizing is pretty accurate. I would suggest going with this - not that my particular seller even has my size. But since the hole in the toe is narrow, I can't say the shoes are too big for you, and it's not that I condone wearing shoes that are too big for you. I mean, it's probably a bit dangerous, isn't it? I would also like to point out that the fit (in length) was almost the same with and without the sock. These flaws aside, the shoes are quite comfortable - like the sole and so on. All in all I really like these shoes. My only regret is that I didn't purchase my correct size.
