I'm only about 5ft 9" tall and swim somewhere between L and XL so I had a bit of a fight about which size to go for. I'm sure M/L would have worked for me, but I ended up going for XL/XXL for better side coverage. It's definitely a bit big for me, but I don't feel like it's difficult to move around in. the fence is about my height, I think it might be a question of what you really intend to do with the apron. I have many hobbies and interests (and I'm not good at any of them!), so I went with the better-safe (covered)-than-sorry option. I'd rather have too much skin than too little as I'm not sure what to protect myself from! The black leather looks very nice although I think mine could use some leather maintenance - seems a bit dry. Not bad, but would be better - and more waterproof - with a little more attention. I've seen people talk about all the packaging but I suspect that every effort has been made to ensure the buckles and rivets don't leave an indelible mark on the skin when rolled as they come - all buckles were individually wrapped and rolled up a layer of thin foam. with apron.
