Review on πŸ”² Square Bottom Stainless Steel Handrail Bracket by Joseph Hall

Good product but had some trouble installing

I really want to give this product 4 stars but although the build quality of the parts is very good the screws that come with it make the job unnecessarily difficult. There are 6 screws in total: a hanger, 3 set screws and two screws used to attach to the real rail. The last two are for machined rails, so if you're using wooden rails you should provide your own, which is perfectly fine. However, I have a problem with the set screws and the suspension screw. First, the hanger bolt is very long and it took a fair amount of effort to get it deep enough into the rack to be flush with the wall. Unfortunately, if you put that much force on it, the inside edges of the hex piece will wear out pretty quickly, causing you to lose your grip and resort to a vise. My other problem is the set screws. They are not long enough and also wear out quite easily. These set screws are the only thing keeping the vertical column from rotating, which isn't really the best design, but to make matters worse they wear out pretty quickly and probably can't support a ton of weight. Overall a great product if you are replacing the set screws.

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • No automatic
