I have owned other Garmin products and a number of different OEM car navigators, so I am very familiar with all they have to offer. While not the most sophisticated or feature-rich navigation, the 250W Navigator is surprisingly functional and useful. sharp and legible. Second, the speaker is much better than some previous models, making it perfect to hear the 'Nav Lady' at highway speeds. Routing occurs almost immediately after entering the destination, and directions are clear and concise. The maps are the most up to date you can get these days and Navteq is one of the best in this category. The device doesn't need to be placed high on a window or dashboard - it picks up satellite signals well even when mounted on a dashboard away from the sun. The cold one is a little slow, but after it's warmed up it's ready to navigate as soon as it's powered. And he doesn't announce turns by street name - a big deal. Everything else is good - lots of places to visit, excellent maps, good directions. It's a great travel companion, especially for those who don't need all the bells and whistles like MP3 players and NavTraffic. Highly recommended.
