This weather radio model, WR120, has a bug that affects people who live in an area that experiences thunderstorms every day (e.g. Central Florida) . The downside is that if the radio doesn't receive NOAA's weekly test alert within two weeks, it will start beeping. The only way to stop the beeping is to turn off the radio and remove the batteries. Then you have to reprogram it. NOAA normally broadcasts a weekly test alert every Wednesday, however NOAA does not broadcast this test alert when there are thunderstorms or other weather conditions in the area as they do not want a test alert. Take it as real fear. In some parts of the country, daily thunderstorms for several months are not uncommon, in which case NOOA does not broadcast test alerts. This will cause the radio model to start beeping. You can get other weather radios that just show the text "Check reception" if they don't get weekly test alerts.
