Review on Stay Hydrated on Your Bike with the CamelBak Podium Chill Insulated Water Bottle by Payton Stovall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No better insulated than any other plastic bottle

The only thing insulated about this Camelbak Podium water bottle is the 2 words "insulated" on the front and back of the bottle. My goal was to have cold water for cycling but it doesn't work as promised. I did a little side-by-side test with a Camelbak, a regular plastic bottle, and an insulated stainless steel water bottle, filled 10 ice cubes in each, and set them on the kitchen counter. After three hours, the ice in both the Camelbak and non-insulated bottles had completely melted, while the ice in the stainless steel bottle had only slightly melted. While three hours would be enough for an average two-hour bike ride, the water at Camelbak warmed up very quickly during my first two hot summer bike rides. Luckily I was able to return the camelbak as defective - not working as promised. I then immediately ordered a stainless steel vacuum flask, which is 3x more expensive than Camelbak. I think I should know better now. Camelbak seemed too good to be true - high performance at an affordable price. It turned out to be just that - too good to be true.
