I really wanted to like this. I have an RCBS 505 scale which you know is made by Ohaus. I bought mine in 2012 and I suspect Ohaus has changed factories since then (I know they used to be made in the US but mine may have moved to Mexico or China by now). Despite this, it is now being produced in another Chinese factory. How can I say? The beam scale is different, mostly inscriptions (not critical). Secondly, the pan is also different (no need to worry either). The lettering printed on the underside of the case is also slightly different, with a "Made in China" sticker (not a big deal either). Just pointing out why it's from a different factory. The problem is that the first one I got here, while measuring accurately against the reference weights, lost the ability to return to zero after a few adjustments. Weight. This is not good. Second, the hinges and blades of the knives are RUSTED. I've cleaned it etc, sharpened the edges of the knives to adjust it, but it still wouldn't go back to zero. I sent it back and got a second one but the same thing. RUSTY knife blades and inability to return to zero. I had to send the second one back. I will not look for a used one on ebay unless the Redding #2 scale I ordered is very good. Anyway, it's not what it used to be. Earlier Mexican or Chinese RCBS/Ohaus 505 works fine. I need to know because he still sits on my bench and goes back to zero every time. I just wanted a second scale to speed up the loading process but it looks like the ones they are making now just aren't.
