Setup instructions that appear immediately after switching on. I've been using a Chromebook for a few years, left a Mac for more security and now I'm having this problem. I'll start by liking Chromebooks, cheap, reliable, solid, with regular updates. This is good stuff. Not good is the message that loaded on the home screen saying to clear first. I have never seen it. I found it weird and over time I thought maybe this Lenovo is a refurbished one. It came in a Lenovo box with all Lenovo stickers and barcodes. but was wrapped, no, tossed in a box that would fit half a dozen, along with about 15 inches of brown wrapping paper - thanks to D&H Distributing for the 5x wrapping job. It rumbled and rattled around in the shipping box, so I figured there must be some broken pieces in there. I told the driver and he drove off immediately. At first he drove very slowly. I couldn't understand. Checked wifi router, connected to ethernet with adapter, Lenovo didn't, did some other testing because I figured it must be something external, a brand new Chromebook ready to go. But then I remembered the phrase on the home screen. I turned it off That helped. I found and deleted cookies. It helped a bit. Then I started digging. I've found extensions I don't use, website addresses I don't visit, and tasks I've never heard of running in the background. She didn't get powerwashed. I removed all those things, flushed it again and the performance is much better but nowhere near what it should be. Revain streaming is questionable but Revain and Google have constant battles we get into, YouTube buffers regularly, pressing forward or back buttons helps with both issues but I understand this device is $150. I don't expect the speed and accuracy of my Apple products, but my impression is that I'm buying a new Chromebook and it may be new but someone left their websites on it. I got mine from D&H Distribution in Illinois. . I'll just keep it for price, but be warned: if you get a powerwash notification on launch, do so. Then start walking in the tracks. Start task manager, cookies and check "About Chrome" in settings. Then rinse again. But don't be too sure it's clean. Some of the things I learned here are that power erasing isn't everything, that it's possible to get a new computer that someone else has used, and that it's possible to sell a refurbished computer as new.
