Review on Enhance Your Memories with NIX X08C Hu-Motion: 8 Inch Digital Picture Frame with Motion Detection Sensor by Arturo Reyes

Exactly what I wanted

I bought a Nix 8" model to replace a 3 year old PanDigital 7" frame. Nix has a MUCH brighter and sharper display and better transition effects. It was one of the few frames of this size that I could find, with a resolution of 800x600 (important) and a minimalist design (perhaps too much). I use a special Class 4 2GB SD card to store my photos. 2-3 times a year I take it out of the frame and add new photos that I want. Image randomization works great for me and I have a lot of it. Sometimes I see it linger in the directories, displaying 3-4 images from a similar group, but that's not bad and it never lingers in one place for long. I use a frame on the X-10 timer to turn it on and off at specific times and thankfully it doesn't lose settings when turned off (as I feared). Must have an internal charged backup battery. The only minor gripe I have regarding the minimalist design is that the frame is perhaps too drab from a cosmetic point of view; plain black on black. I'm thinking of getting a traditional bezel for it and giving the display a matte finish to help it blend in with my living room. It would be nice if Nyx made this available as an accessory. Also, the 8 inch screen is too small in my opinion, although it is larger than the 7 inch screen I had on a PanDigital unit before. Of course, that's not the Nix frame's fault, but if I were to buy this frame again, I'd look for a 10-inch frame, preferably with the same feature set (4:3 aspect ratio) and 1024x768 resolution ( if available). . One final note: One of the things I like about this framework is that it's just for displaying images and doesn't include all the extra "features" that many other frames that are (usually) poorly implemented have too the cost and looks is intended for grandparents who don't know anything but where to turn it on and off. All in all a great little framework that works well and only includes the features you really need at a great price.
