I bought mealworms, but after reading their description I decided to give it a try. The product comes nicely packaged. The box they come in is sturdy and really protects the dried worms. The larvae are about twice the size of mealworms. The first day I posted the Black Soldier fly larvae, the birds weren't in love with them. When I eject the mealworms, the starlings start eating feverishly, and sometimes the feeders are empty within half an hour. I don't think it's a bad thing that birds need a little longer to eat BSF larvae. I have nothing against birds that take 2 or 3 hours to eat them. I think if the birds take a little longer to eat them, more birds will have a chance to enjoy them. Now I see not only starlings at the worm houses, but also other birds, and that makes me happy.
