Lightweight and fragile solar panels

BALDR 120W foldable solar panel. I haveJackery Explorer 1000 and love it.! But I was looking for mobile additional solar panels. I want to be able to charge my jackety when he goes away for a few days for hiking, fishing etc. I chose the BALDR 120W panel over the Jackery 100W panels for two reasons. First it is advertised with 120 watts. (More power.) Second, it was cheaper (but I'd pay thejackery price if it was 120 watts or more). After receiving the new BALDR 120W, I liked the size of the folded case. (Approximately 14.5 x 20.5 inches, about 1 inch thick.) Very easy to carry and store. I also like plug and play in my jackety. With Anderson's 8mm plug adapter/extension I was good to go. But that's where it all ends. I have yet to get over 96W (120W on the panel). The disk kept turning in the wind. (The sun is in one direction but the wind is in the other.) In any case, there was no need to add spikes for the tent to hold up. Also, the two end panels folded unless the entire panel was flipped all the way around...making them pretty much useless. I would have to take care of it to make it work. It hurt because I couldn't leave camp to fish, explore, or just take a nap. I need to make a frame to hold all the panels open and a way to secure it. If only they could have a large eyelet on a canvas strap on the footboard leg for the top of the tent and a plastic batten that slides into a pocket that bridges the gap between the panels and prevents the end panel from tipping over.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
