Beautiful lamp. In combination with the Edison Protein Cage light bulb you get a work of art. Mind you, 1 page of instructions for this is terrible. The long screws on the base plate (the ones with nuts) are the ones that protrude through the mounting plate to attach the decorative nuts to it (the nuts tighten themselves when you tighten them). The screws in the cable connector pocket are the ones that go through the panel and into your junction box. You don't need to use a ground screw as a green ground wire (from the lamp) connects to the ground wire on the ceiling (bare copper or green). black to black white to white. I have a dimmer on my wall that you can use to dim an Edison bulb to the point where the vintage filament looks really nice. In addition, there is invisible tape around the rings that you need to cut to straighten them. Hope that helps!
