Review on ๐Ÿถ Water-Resistant High Tech Pet Micro Sonic 5 Collar with Digital Transmitter MS-5 by Heather Genevish

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much better than the MS-4 and easy to get running on regular batteries!

I used MS-4 collars on our Power Pet Medium PX-1 Electronic Pet Door. We had issues with dirt, hair and water getting into the collar and stopping the transmission. When one of the MC-4 clamps broke, I settled on the MC-5. Here's what I think: 1- This type of collar should come standard with all devices. 2- The body is fixed with a small screw, much more secure than the MS-4 plastic clamshell. 3 - This type of collar is more expensive but makes it easier to use general purpose batteries instead of high tech pet batteries which are grossly overpriced. See below for details. To save big money on batteries, follow these steps to use regular batteries instead. It takes less than 5 minutes after you've done it once, so don't be afraid of the steps: Step 1: Buy CR2430 batteries (any brand will do) Step 2: Watch out for the High Tech Pet's low battery .on both sides - one side has a white donut shaped sticker under the foil and the other side has a round white sticker. You have to be careful with the next few steps, but it's easy. Pay attention to how the battery is oriented so that you can replace your universal battery correctly. Step 3: Peel off the round sticker without tearing it. Two foil tabs welded to the battery can be seen under the sticker. Using a sharp knife (or similar), carefully remove the tabs from the battery without tearing or cutting. They should come off like a wrinkled tongue. Step 4: After the tabs pop out, remove the foil donut and underlying sticker as a unit (again without tearing it apart). You should now have three separate pieces: the foil donut with the foil ring together, the battery, and the sticker in the top circle. Step 5: Replace the battery with a new one: Make sure you place the foil donut on the battery in the correct orientation. . Now that the battery is loose in the donut, fold the tabs back over to the back of the battery. They seem very loose, but you'll fix that later. Step 6: Stick the round sticker on the bars. Step 7: To make sure the tabs stay "pressed" against the battery, I used a thin piece of cardboard. From a piece of cardboard, cut out a circle the same size as the round sticker. You put this cardboard on top of the battery when you finally insert it into the collar. Step 8: Place the battery back into the collar with the ring facing down on the springs. Step 9: Place the cardboard circle on the collar. Solid circle sticker for the battery. Step 10: Close the back of the case. If your box is too thick, you won't be able to close it properly. I like MS-5 clamps because they use a screw instead of a clip to stay closed, but this works with both MS-4 and MS-5 clamps. Congratulations - you've just saved a lot of money over the life of your door. Especially with 3+ animals.
