Hit or Miss - Collars

The dog door is excellent, it has been used intensively for about 8 years without problems. Remote control is a different story. Remotes typically last about a year before they stop working if you're lucky enough to get one that works right out of your pocket. They always run the risk of not lasting a day before they stop broadcasting. My dog broke the clip on his so I bought a replacement. I put it on in the morning and went to work. When I got home, the poor guy was curled up in front of his…

DO NOT buy the door it will come on

I liked this door, easy to set up, dogs very easy to use and they are 100lb labradors. That's the problem. The collars that you have to buy separately are very poorly made. First I bought ms2. Fell apart after 2 weeks. Then I bought the strong MS2A collars. Back then I only wanted the best for my dogs. Since they were designed, the door didn't always open. Someone said it was because of the way they were tricked into blocking the signal strength. When they stopped working after 4 months I went…

need to add dielectric grease or leak short life not waterproof

Should update this review: after trying dielectric grease the cuffs were fine. (Waterproof tape is not used or required.) The batteries last more than three months and the collars get wet every day. We have water in the backyard and a young black lab that stays wet all the time. Replacing batteries is a bit of a hassle - all that lube makes them a gooey mess. But the collars have withstood all the torture a few dogs can endure, and they didn't disappoint. You'll see a defect in the collar's…

It's a great concept and almost a necessity for us

It's a pretty great concept and almost a necessity for us but there are a couple of BIG design flaws. The door itself looks very high quality, strong, reliable and works very well. As a central component, it would have gotten 4 stars. first complaint: installation and sealing seems to have been completed after some thought. Where the main product is good, the company simply adds a few inferior gaskets in random lengths that aren't even long enough to seal completely. I had to make a trip to the

Much better than the MS-4 and easy to get running on regular batteries!

I used MS-4 collars on our Power Pet Medium PX-1 Electronic Pet Door. We had issues with dirt, hair and water getting into the collar and stopping the transmission. When one of the MC-4 clamps broke, I settled on the MC-5. Here's what I think: 1- This type of collar should come standard with all devices. 2- The body is fixed with a small screw, much more secure than the MS-4 plastic clamshell. 3 - This type of collar is more expensive but makes it easier to use general purpose batteries instead
