A much more comfortable replacement for the standard grips

These are fairly comfortable ergonomic grips. They feel MUCH better than the standard round knobs that the bike had - I've had a few issues with numbness on long rides. I like that they have snap rings on both ends. I bought the ones with the aluminum end caps, although I only used one because I have the mirror on the left end. They take up more space on the handlebars than the old grips. I had to move the brake/switch mounts in about an inch to accommodate them and make the bar extensions flush with the end of the handlebar again. It took a couple of rides to get them into position, which meant I had to loosen the locks to turn them around a bit, but now that they're in place I'm fine. The hardest part of the installation is removing the old handles. I used a plastic tire tool to pull the end of the grip away from the handlebars a bit and squirt some WD40 in, then twist and pull until they came loose. The new grips were fairly easy to put in - an advantage of blocking grips as they don't rely on being very tight on the bar to stay in place. Be careful not to overtighten them! Many people who are not used to working with bicycles tend to apply too much torque when tightening bolts. Wrong on the side of being too loose - you'll find that anything works well with less torque than you think. Using a torque wrench to adjust things on your bike shows you how little effort it takes to secure most things on your bike.
