Some may complain about this issue, but I take it as a pro. These things filter crap out of your water and then clog when they get full. I don't see that as a disadvantage. I live in Portland, Oregon, where we "proud" of open watersโthe ones that draw federal government attention and lawsuits ("cover it up or else!"). There are so many solids in my water that these filters only last about 2 months before they completely wear out and stop working. For us this means I load the top end of the filter and it does nothing for 45 minutes - barely dripping. I can hit it and it filters a bit but it still doesn't work for mass filtering. I have not installed a filter for the whole house as we are looking to sell soon. We are in the process of starting a pre-filtration experiment with a cheaper household brand. Pour, pre-filter, pour and see how long they last afterwards. I have no faults with a product that works for a few months and then has problems due to the amount of solids in our water. Even my toilets complain when I clean them in the form of bacteria (pink/green/black deposits when I let go) so I see this as great confirmation that this product is filtering.
