To be honest I should have read a little more about this product, I use it for exactly what it is intended for - metal marking. The tip will be sharp after several hundred cuts on carbon/mild steel. My only reasonable complaint is that they are reversible and have a cap on one side and not on the other. Tell me why a sharp metal object with TWO sharp sides has a cap on only ONE side, meaning both are threaded to fit such a cap. I've hit myself with this thing a few times after putting it in my pocket or tool bag. The company supplied two covers for security reasons🤷‍♀️Overall a good product
