Outstanding quality and design. cool look! Bad Choice 4 Chefs

This apron is really cool. I loved it when i received it. Material and workmanship are first class. The design is both practical and stylish. The fabric is a very durable tarpaulin. It is trimmed with leather inserts. Eyelets and clasp are solid brass. The straps are thick, strong, and long enough to wrap around the back and tie in the front. I work as a chef and prefer to take my special knives with me. I have a sizable collection of these and a tote bag to hold many. But at work I don't even use half a dozen. Most cooks only need steam to cook vegetables etc. I make pizza dough and cut up large chunks of beef, so I like to use a few extras. The apron/knife roll idea is a great way to minimize what I have to carry in my backpack. Everything seemed fine until I started wearing it to work. I even got compliments. But I was disappointed in its ability to easily clean and maintain its appearance. It gets very sloppy in my daily chores. The surface of this canvas fabric sticks to flour, dough and beef tallow very quickly. Leather and brass make machine washing impossible. Cotton fabric shrinks a lot in the dryer. So you are forced to hand wash and air dry. Removing dried food from the rough surface of the canvas is time consuming and getting it 100% clean is almost impossible. The canvas then needs time to air dry. This apron is perfect for waxing. Then things were easy to shake off. But this worn look, while appropriate for a workshop, is not suitable for cooking/serving food that is concerned with cleanliness and style. Maybe it's the right fashion attire at Sweeney Todd's Pie Shop, but not at the family restaurant where I do my thing. Without saying anything about this apron, I cannot recommend its special material for chefs, bistro waiters, etc. Can I suggest an additional version with more washable fabric, stainless steel fittings and no leather?
