Impressive little preamp!

First, I strongly recommend that anyone who buys this preamp spend the extra $15 to upgrade the tubes to GE 5640. If possible, get "Jan" tubes, a real upgrade , in my opinion. This is actually the second one I've bought and this one I'm pairing with a Nobsound 6P1 amp. This adds a little extra power to whatever amp you pair it with, and the bass and treble control is a great option. , too much of. Another nice feature is the locked volume control, which anyone interested in stereo equipment should appreciate, especially if they're using something new. It really does bring out the sound though, IMO, and I hooked it up to a solid state amp and it was very nice. happy with the results. In fact, it was this preamp that led me to tube amps. Be damned for that! Finally, and this is again my own experience with two such devices, is that they make a very loud, confusing, shut down sound when the power is turned off. It doesn't seem to affect any hardware I've connected it to and takes a week or two to go away. I've coated them internally with Deoxit, I haven't noticed any distortion when playing music, and it doesn't seem to damage other hardware, so it just has to be something "burned in" on the device. For the price I would recommend it to anyone and everyone interested in hearing what tube sound can do for your listening experience, especially with digital music.
