If you have problems with the case, it will turn on in reverse!
First I put the product on wrong I put it on by mistake and had a hard time opening the top that kept moving up and the AirPods kept popping out of the case after I found out had what problem was i flipped the case and it works great. Many people in the reviews say that you need to remove the top. Try turning the case over. In the images above you can see the back of the bookshelf. The key ring on the right back should show the metal part of the actual AirPod case with the hinged door.
