Review on Wireless 8Bitdo PCE 2.4G Gamepad: Connects to PC Engine Mini, CoreGrafx Mini, TurboGrafx-16 Mini & Nintendo Switch (PCE Edition) by Gene Evans

One of the best 2-button wireless controllers out there

For those considering this controller, I think it's best to keep in mind what it's originally designed for was developed, and to judge it solely on its merits. As someone with years of experience with original TG16/PCE hardware I can attest that this is a good well built 2 button wireless controller with adjustable turbo buttons. The 8bitdo PCE 2.4G controller does a wonderful if not perfect job of recreating the style and feel of the original wired controllers. It feels lighter and the four-way adjustment isn't as tight as the original 2-button duo, NEC Avenue Pad 3 or NEC Avenue Pad 6. The downside is the excellent wireless connection (at less than 7.6ms Latency). ), which charges quickly and offers around 15 hours of playback per charge. When playing via USB, the input lag drops to 1ms. Contrary to initial reports, it can also be run on PC alongside Mini and Switch. Once you've added the ability to manually increase or decrease the Turbo button function (press and hold Select + II + I buttons for 5 seconds), this controller does exactly what it was designed to do: a high-quality wireless two- button control. Gaming experience that intelligently reproduces the appearance of the original PCE/TG16 controller. You can expect that. Much of the negative feedback in the review sections of all three controller styles boils down to unreasonable expectations. Please take these comments with a pinch of salt. It's like buying an apple on purpose and then complaining it's not an orange. This is a niche controller designed for a niche market. If the way I'm describing it sounds good to you, then you'll probably like it.

Pros
  • Rugged build
Cons
  • I won't say anything
