I've had this cooling pad for about a month now. I'm using this for my fairly old Dell Inspiron 14R that was having overheating issues. The cooling pad fits a 14 inch screen easily and I can see that it fits a 17 inch easily. It's made of durable plastic and supported by a fairly strong metal bar with 6 different heights including a horizontal position. Position from about 15 degrees to about 40 degrees. The two small feet at the bottom can be folded down to prevent the laptop from slipping off in higher positions. They are very strong and soft to avoid scratching the laptop. The laptop stands on a strong metal grid. Under the grille there are 4 small fans on the outer corners and one large fan in the middle. I see no need for this feature but when the fan is on it emits a bright blue LED which looks really high tech and amazing. This is more than enough to keep my dinosaur laptop from overheating and slowing down. The fans are very quiet, even on the highest setting (you can adjust the fan speed with a small scroll wheel on the back, which also dims the on-screen LEDs). There are two USB ports on the back of the tablet. With the included cable, you can run it by plugging it into one of your laptop's USB ports. The cord is more than long enough and I had to tie it short to keep it tidy. The second USB port on the mat can be used for a mouse, USB stick or whatever you need. This mat is best for older laptops with overheating issues or if you want to use your laptop on the bed without choking on the fans. from bedding. As a college student, I do a lot of homework on my bed and hate it when my laptop gets mad at me for putting it on the sheets. This cooling pad eliminated that problem for me.
