My Internet is powered by Verizon, so my Wi-Fi network automatically switches between two types of channels depending on what the connected device is needed. So I suspect that's why I had trouble connecting to that Wi-Fi port (I had another Wi-Fi port that did the same thing, so it's not just this one). The instructions say to connect to your WiFi network, but if that doesn't work for you (it says find the item and then "times out"), try another method. Add a device, add it manually (and select a Wi-Fi connection), then instead of using the rapidly flashing display screen, tap "AP mode" at the top. You'll need to put it in slow blinking mode, add your WiFi again, and then connect to the device's WiFi - this should work for you now! Much luck! Once you plug it in it's pretty easy to use, schedule it to turn on and off and it works well for the price so I'm happy!
