Review on πŸš— Enhanced Car Audio Crossover BX55 with Remote Subwoofer Control by BOSS Audio by Sean Young

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No comparison, day and night just don't mix

The device is very good for the price, however it seems to allow frequency leaks, which led to the loss of a star in the rating It's not for that reason exactly as I wish I couldn't completely cut the treble from my mid-bass speakers and the front treble seems to cut most of the bass no matter how low I set the treble, but it could be a ground loop filter that is causing it which is known to cause mid-bass issues, but I don't notice any hiss even from my mid-bass speakers without ground loop filters, which is good as that seems to be a common complaint here. He said he does his job and does it well, the difference in sound confuses me, I think people who have complained about sound/noise issues don't know how to set something like this up properly, it won't do well, it unless you also put in speakers that match the crossover setting and full 3/4 range you won't notice much of a difference, in fact it may sound even worse depending on the rest of the speakers. The main reason I got this was the rear speaker bandwidth, and while it doesn't allow for as much fine control as I'd like, I'd say that made the biggest difference in sound since I didn't have any passives Crossovers on my back, and they're made for mid-bass, not full range. 6.5 3 channels for front speakers, tweeters have a passive crossover, and 3 channels are tuned to 250Hz and above, and rear 8" mid-bass speakers are tuned to 65-300Hz, and two 12" speakers are tuned to 70Hz and set below. is to set a little overlap to avoid frequency breaks, but set the overlap in a range where both sets of speakers can play well, and just because you can increase the gain doesn't mean you have good RCA cables should use what you shouldn't don't need. and at least RCA car audio but prefer twisted pair cable, cars have so much interference that without good shielding you get noise. I don't seem to have any grounding issues either, the reason I installed a ground loop filter is because my aftermarket stereo box is fully grounded and metal so the RCA's touch the case slightly causing a ground loop, I couldn't do anything around it to change it was a design flaw but I don't seem to have a problem with it, it seems well constructed in that regard as I have the connection temporary until I can start a dedicated line so for now it's grounded from my bass amp, which is bad and prone to grounding problems. The fact that it's not show quality I haven't used and don't plan to use the remote control so I can't comment on that part. I've already installed the remote subwoofers in an unused OEM location to keep them looking the usual and I don't feel like fiddling with the remote for this and there doesn't seem to be much point in even trying. The best mods I have made for my car and they are worth it. I would highly recommend this to anyone trying to build an audiophile quality sound system on a budget.
