They are ideal for the average home office IT professional. Connected HDMI and USB cables and it worked. Bought one for me and one for my wife. They're about the size of your palm, maybe the size of a deck of cards, or a little more. No permanently connected cables, everything has a plug. The 4 USB ports on the front are a nice bonus. Many 2-port KVMs in this price range only have 2 USB ports. There's no power cord, so that's good news. This even works with docking stations and laptops connected to 3 displays (of course I only connected one to this KVM) at 1080p. Some KVMs have a keyboard shortcut to switch between computers, but I haven't found one that does this. Make sure to install the device in an easily accessible place so that you can press the button on the front to switch.
