This is a very good star and worth the money. Really added beauty to the tree. By no means cheap, but it is of good quality and will likely last for quite a while with proper care and storage. It's a little bright, but not a beacon; individual bulbs are not visible through the outer layer of the capiz shell. The photo here at Revain shows this exactly. While I wouldn't call this star "fragile", it can definitely shatter if it falls from the top of a tree. It's strong and heavier than you might think and should be securely fastened to the top of the tree (I used a zip tie which worked fine and was easy to remove). You'll need an extension cord, and I'd recommend that you add an (inexpensive) remote on/off switch (which controls all your strings) and save yourself the hassle of plugging and unplugging frequently.
