Review on 🚛 Experience Superior Load Handling with Air Lift 88289 LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Suspension Kit by Adam Aponte

Revainrating 4 out of 5

More than 4000 pounds of leveling capacity.

6/19/2016 --- I installed this on a 2015 Ram 2500 Mega Cab with a 6.4 liter Hemi V8 with just under 3,000 pounds of payload. I bought these airbags to keep my truck from squatting when transporting water and towing trailers. First, I like the system and its simplicity. I recommend these airbags to anyone who wants to keep their truck from sagging under heavy loads. So why 4 stars? Well, these air springs claim to be able to balance loads up to 5,000 pounds, but I find it hard to believe. The instructions say to inflate the airbags until you reach your normal ride height. On my truck, the length from the top of the rear tire to the bottom of the corresponding fender is 10.5 inches. When towing water I can't get more than 9 inches of clearance at 95 psi. (Max 100). I carry a little under 350 gallons of water as that is the maximum capacity of my aquarium. A gallon of water weighs about 8 pounds, which is about 2800 pounds. The manual states that "the springs in this kit hold approximately 40 pounds of load (both springs combined) per 1 psi of pressure." This raises two questions. Firstly the fact that 40psi * 100psi = 4000lb maximum load leveling not 5000lb and secondly I only need about 70psi (give or take) to level my truck with a water tank. So why can't 95 get the job done? Because of these issues, I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Installing the air springs was fairly easy, but the instructions weren't very clear, resulting in a lot of time being wasted checking and rechecking to make sure everything was ok. While the process was simple, it wasn't exactly easy. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably do it in about half an hour or so. The hardest part is figuring out how to assemble the airbags before installation as the parts for the left and right sides are slightly different and the directions don't clearly show which way the panels on each side are facing. I recommend cross-referencing the chart on page 3, even if it doesn't help with certain details. In general, installation is easy enough. So if you have all the necessary tools according to the instructions, you should be able to install it yourself. This additive helps prevent the formation of condensation and moisture inside the airbags, which prevents possible damage, as well as the formation of ice blocks in the air ducts. If you decide to purchase the Model #7200 Cordless Air Compressor (which works great, by the way), the instructions for it mention the use of "Gunk" brand air brake antifreeze. But to add it with the airbags installed, you have to remove them almost completely. So if you live in an area where the temperatures are below freezing, it's best if you get some of it before assembling the airbags. See attached image for directions. After installing the airbags, I had to plan where to run my air lines. I bought the airbags along with the wireless air kit mentioned above, so I knew I didn't have to manually inflate them, so I wouldn't need the air valves that came with them. But based on a review from someone I thought it might be best to do it anyway, which is good as the compressor that was sent to me had a broken piece and couldn't be used. And I had to manually inflate the airbags for a week while Air Lift sent me a new compressor. 10 out of 10 for their customer service. Anyway, the instructions showed a few different places the air valves could be installed, but I ended up putting them behind the rear fenders to eat because there were already holes symmetrically on either side of the truck. I just had to make the hole a little bigger to fit the air valve and it was perfect. I'm not sure what else to say. Be happy with this kit. A NOTICE. These airbags do not increase the load capacity of your truck. They only affect ride quality and altitude. Not only the suspension limits the payload of your truck, but also the tires, wheels, hubs and axles. While they're all designed for more than just your truck, the frame itself may not be. Load capacity is a number that shouldn't be tampered with a bit from time to time, it's just a 'safe working load' after all, but don't buy those airbags thinking your pathetic 1/4 ton truck will suddenly can transport something. 11/2019 --- I've had these airbags for almost 3 full years now and every time I use them I'm grateful I bought them. I haven't had any issues with the airbags and they still hold pressure with no leaks. There are no signs of cracking, stress or wear in general.

Pros
  • Great fit for me
Cons
  • Not all fit
